The walls of this Tuscan winery resonate the story of these 8 women, thanks in part to the life-size mural created by Valdelsa artist Maria Chiara Viviani. Donna Ava and her 7 handmaids (Lucilla, Oletta, Nina, Arania, Aranda, Arella and Firmina) are immortalized in the Poggio ai Laghi winery embracing the wines dedicated to them and greeting visitors with a happy sentiment:

Behind each label of wine you will find the closest link to memory, scent and taste. It is our hope that you remember us with fondness and the warmth you experienced while here with our family at the winery.

The labels of the wines dedicated to the seven handmaids, are also designed by Viviani, for a unique collection with multiple meanings: the gaze of each handmaid, the very colors chosen to represent them, along with the number 7 that runs through their history and that of Donna Ava, encapsulate holistic meanings, the result of an in-depth study of these historical figures who lived on Montemaggio around the year 1000, and are still beloved by the local population today.

“In every sip of our wines you will find the good fortune we have cultivated in these vineyards.”

Artist Maria Chiara Viviani graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence and specialized in Pictorial Techniques of the Tuscan workshop of the 1300s. She has participated in numerous private and group exhibitions including “I Mille di Sgarbi” in 2021.

Having always been in love with Poggio ai Laghi, she decided to create an ad hoc work for Poggio ai Laghi wines and to create the labels dedicated to the 7 handmaids, strengthening the Tuscan winery’s already strong bond with the territory.
